The origin of Phuc Sinh derived from the organization of Jesus' Sacred Heart in 1987 under the provision of Reverend Augustine Nguyen Huy Tuong. The group consisted of a minor count of spiritual members volunteering to the duty of singing for each Sunday evening's mass.

After a period of time, choir director Nguyen Huu Gioi arrived and volunteered the duty to guide and direct the choir. After a time span litle over two years, director Nguyen Huu Gioi parted with the choir to pursue and help Reverend Augustine Nguyen who accepted responsibility for a new parish in Garland.

From then on, "Father Joe's Choir" (its name referring to Reverend Joseph Son Van Nguyen, the successor to Reverend Augustine Nguyen), was given over to Mr. Tuan Nguyen to take duty. But only after a few short months, Mr. Tuan Nguyen also left, leaving leadership to choir director Nguyen Chi Trinh from Arlington to come and direct in 1990. Then at the approximate end of 1992, because of time and distance, director Nguyen Chi Trinh requested leave.

A week before the Vietnamese Martyr's Mass in 1992, composer and choir director Do Vy Ha along with Choir Leader Tran Thu Thuy took responsibility in guiding "Father Joe's Choir" which comprised of approximately 10 members at that time. After about 3 months of activity, enrollment, and restructuring, "Father Joe's Choir" established itself the name called PHUC SINH, representing that of a resurrection, a meaning of new life, and could also be said as the complete shedding of the skin, both mentally and physically.

Currently, the number of active choir members of Phuc Sinh has reached nearly 40 people. In terms of quantity, it's probably a small number to be acknowledged, but in terms of quality, it could be said as something worth being happy about.
